COHI Heritage West Fundraiser for Malawi
by Pat Beachy, Regional Representative for Heritage West
Heritage West Region hosted “A Seriously Silly Talent Show and Sing-a-Long” on December 3, 2017 at St. Julian of Norwich, Round Rock, Texas. Items for the raffle, and silent auction were donated by 17 local businesses, numerous individuals, and CoC’s from St. Alban’s Episcopal and from Grace Episcopal. St. Julian’s CofC provided light refreshments.
The show began with the above video appeal from Canon Andrew Sumani. God graced this show with the performers. The talent was excellent. This event was an excellent entry to Advent, a time of hope. It was an opportunity to introduce people to COHI and explain what we do –e.g., an opportunity for people to help someone completely unknown to them and a chance for growth for all. It was also a time for fellowship and fun.
Including monetary donations from individuals and businesses, proceeds from raffle tickets silent auction items, we raised $1000 – The majority of the $1000 will be provided to Canon Andrew Sumani in Malawi to support his continuing work to introduce COHI in parishes throughout this impoverished country. The remaining funds will be used to support initiatives to grow COHI in the Heritage West Region.
This was a giant leap of faith on my part – Pat Beachy. With no idea what the outcome would be, I prayed and had others praying. That leap was fruitful as you can see. Take a leap of faith yourself and see what you can do! Prayers are answered.
